Question: What can happen if you dont treat a yeast infection?
(Posted by: jaygirl on 2012-01-26 23:19:53)
I think i have a yeast infection since the 6th grade I’m in 8th now, but I’m to scared to tell my mom. Me and my mom aren’t that close so telling her feels really uncomfortable for me, and having any doctor look down there is also makes me fell really uncomfortable. If I dont do anything about it can it get worse or just stay the same? Will it just go away..its been almost 3 years and I still have it. Are there any ways i can get rid of it with out telling her or going to the doctor? PLEASE HELP!! |

I am not sure the long term complications of it, but it really is a easy fix, and mom don't have to know. First you should know women get yeast infections and it don't mean you have done anything bad. It's not from being sexually active or anything like that. So it shouldn't be something you get in trouble for, but I totally understand not wanting to talk to mom about it. If you are sexually active, stop until you get it cleared up, you can give it to your partner, and they can give it back. Now get about $20, and head to walmart or walgreens. Go to where they sell tampons, and look for a product called Monistat, it comes in a 1 day, 3 day, or 7 day treatment, you choose but I think the 7 day is cheaper. You can use another brand if you want, but I wouldn't get the store brand. If you are really itchy, in that same area is a medicine called Vagisil that helps alot. Then run over and get some yogurt, make sure it has active live cultures. The yogurt helps control the overgrown cultures that cause the infection. The monostat is in a vaginal suppository that you insert like a tampon. Do it at night before bed so it can work all night, in the morning when you stand up it will gush out, it is normal but yucky feeling. This should fix it, but if it don't you may have some other kind of infection, and should see a Dr. Good luck! |

First, it's better if you just get over your nervousness. Your mom has gone through this I am sure and completely understands. She should be more than happy to help you with a health concern, that is what moms are for! I remember I did not tell my mom about my period. I don't know why I didn't. I have had 3 kids and let me tell you, my mom has been there through it all. She is like my best friend now. I know it's awkward but it will be ok! If you truly have a mom that is not there for you, see if you can get some cash together and go to the store and purchase an at home yeast infection treatment. Cranberry juice is really good if that is all you can get access to. If those do not work, then you should tell your mom. If all else fails, there are free clinics that will help young girls and they will test you to see what is wrong. There are other things than yeast infections. If the yeast infection pills, creams or cranberry juice does not work, it could mean you have bacterial vaginosis. I am guessing you have BV honestly. The most common symptom of BV is an abnormal homogeneous off-white vaginal discharge (especially after sex) with an unpleasant smell. This malodorous discharge coats the walls of the vagina, and is usually without irritation, pain or erythema. By contrast, the normal vaginal discharge will vary in consistency and amount throughout the menstrual cycle and is at its clearest about 2 weeks before the period starts. If this is what you are experiencing, you must tell your mom and do not be scared. She brought you into this world and she had to go through many embarassing moments too! It seems uncomfortable at first, but every girl goes through having to get over letting a doctor see you. It is so important because these things can lead to other diseases. Make sure if you start having sex to get a checkup regularly. |

The symptoms (you may not experience all of them): - white cottage cheese-like discharge - some odor - dryness (can cause bleeding) - digestive problems - itchiness - burning urination - painful intercourse - a feeling of just not being "normal " Here are some safe, natural cures you can implement. - avoid scented soaps - avoid sugars and complex carbs for a week - air out the infected area while you're sleeping at night - add grapefruit extract to your water during the day (balances hormones) - eat probiotics like cottage cheese and yogurt - shower frequently -drink lots of water and eat plenty of fiber to flush the infection |
